This week, I signed with a literary agent (the wonderful Abby Walters of Creative Artists Agency—one of the most powerful talent agencies in the world today).
I’ve been writing fiction since 2017. (I’ve been writing my whole life, but 2017 marks the time I started writing with the goal of producing a full-length novel for publication).
There are so many steps on the way to becoming a traditionally published author—which is the path I wanted for myself.
To write a scene.
To write an act.
To finish a novel.
To revise.
To get feedback from beta readers.
To query.
To get an agent.
I did all that before, and this last step is where the road ended for me. I queried my MS, got some fulls, but ultimately no offers, and I was back to square one. So to tell you the truth, I never really thought about what happens after I get an agent. Getting an agent became a sort of a unicorn-goal all its own.
It’s like climbing a mountain, and once you’ve scaled the top, you see there’s an even bigger mountain right behind it.
This, my friends, is where I am now.
I invite you to join me on the climb, as I will be sharing useful snippets and anecdotes along the way. I’ll also be sharing craft and story advice that I give to my book coaching clients. I’d be honored if you came along for the journey!
